smartpatient
Product Design, UX Design
Since medications can’t help as long as you don’t take them, smartpatient built Europe’s most sophisticated personal pill reminder and medication tracker app.
Background
smartpatient is a company that operates in the healthcare technology sector, focusing on digital patient engagement and support. The company offers the app MyTherapy for smartphones, which helps chronically ill people to adhere to their therapy during everyday life. It reminds the users of medication, measurements and additional therapy elements and thus, improves medication adherence.
Furthermore, smartpatient offers aggregate real-world insights to the healthcare industry to help understand medication adherence within specific patient groups, without sharing individual user data.
Scope
smartpatient provides digital solutions for patient engagement beyond traditional medication, aiming to improve adherence and persistence in treatment. Their technology has been tested in university hospitals, such as Charité Berlin, demonstrating improved adherence and subjective well-being among patients using their app. The company partners with leaders in life sciences and healthcare to implement tailored patient support programs globally.
Challenge
I developed an optimized user interface for the application in order to make it usable for a wide audience of customers. Additionally the exisiting features were tested and adjusted to the users‘ needs.
On top of that, the corporate identity was completely overhauled to ensure a professional and serious impression to customers and business partners. Especially in the healthcare context combined with access to highly personal data trust is key for commercial success – which should reflect in the corporate identity.

Execution & Success Story
During my time at smartpatient, we focused on three core aspects of a successful therapy.
- Adherence
- Analysis
- Inclusion
